There's not much beats cutting deep fresh turns in deep untracked powder far from the madenning crowds. Riding in the Backcountry of the high mountains is a magical and inspirational experience and your Backcountry adventures start here with the 6 day Backcountry Introduction course!

The BC Intro is the third step in our progression from On Piste Performance (Tech performance Clinic), to Off Piste Perfection (Off Piste Performance Clinic), through to complete Backcountry Freerider leading on from were the Off Piste Performance Clinic finishes and moving on beyond Technique introducing you to the exciting World of the Backcountry Freerider.

The Backcountry Intro is the first course in our Backcountry series and should not be underestimated, this is a demanding course both Technically and Physically designed for Advanced Snowboarders only.

Backcountry Freeriding is part of the natural Snowboard progression. It begins as a personal challenge to take on the greater challenges posed by the mountains natural terrain. It becomes a fantastic journey to find and ride the ultimate descent. Taking you into the heart of the Chamonix Backcountry, this course is the starting point from which you enter into the world of the serious Backcountry Freerider teaching you how to look at, respect and learn from the terrain in which you ride!

Ride some of Chamonix’s most breathtaking descents and learn to hike and climb in safety through some of Chamonix's wildest landscapes, let your journey begin!

Course Overview.
  • Day 1 - Avalanche search and rescue training - A warm up and Off piste technique day.
  • Day 2 - Easy access Off piste and Backcountry and Glacier riding at the Grandes Montets.
  • Day 3 - A day out in the Chamonix Backcountry - Hiking out to access the goods - Crochue Berard variant in the Aiguille Rouge.
  • Day 4 - Glacier riding day and crevasse rescue training - exploring the high mountains and the Valley Blanche from the Aiguille du Midi.
  • Day 5 - A day out in the Chamonic Backcountry - Hiking out to access the goods - Col du Passon from the Grand Montets.

Price Includes:
  • 5 days on snow Guidance with fully qualified ISIA Snowboard Teacher and UIAGM Mountain Guide Neil McNab (ratio 1:6).
  • Avalanche safety equipment and avalanche search and rescue training.
  • Crevasse rescue and rope technique training for glacier travel.
  • All Backcountry access equipment and training.
  • Transport to and from the mountain.


Price does not include:

  • Accommodation.
  • Lift pass.
  • Flights (nearest airport is Geneva).
  • Airport transfers.
  • Personal insurance.
  • Personal snowboarding equipment and backpack capable of carrying your board (25L minimum)


Please Note
Our Backcountry Introduction courses cater for Advanced snowboarders. A good fitness level and a minimum of 4 to 5 weeks riding experience is recommended.
