Title: The New Calendar will be online on Wednesday!
Date: 27/06/2011

I am just putting the finishing touches to next years course calendar which will be on line from this Wednesday 29th June.

You'll find all the regular courses such as the essential 'Technical performance Clinic', a must for anybody serious about their riding performance. The popular 'Off Piste Performance Clinic' which takes the next step in perfecting your techniques and matching them to the mountains constantly changing terrain and conditions. You'll find an updated 'Backcountry program' which takes you 'beyond technique' and introduces you to the real World of Backcountry Freeriding, taking you out amongst the high peaks, far from the boundaries of the controlled Ski area to explore the Mountains unlimited and untamed natural terrain whilst teaching you how to tour, climb and ride there in safety and with an increased level of awareness and respect for this untamed winter wonderland!

Next seasons courses start early with a pre season 'Technical Clinic' in early December in Tignes. This will give anyone with the need the chance to get into their riding technique early and so start working on their development even before the real winter has begun. The past few seasons have started early, in terms of Snowfall, and so this pre season week could even see us exploring some of the exciting Off Piste found around the Espace killy, if the conditions are favourable!

There are some new developments in this seasons extensive 'Backcountry Program' with the new 'Splitboard Intro course' designed for those that want to get into the Backcountry whilst trying out the "Fine Art of Splitboarding' as a means of BC access. For those already in tune with this Art you'll find the 'BC Splitboard Freeride courses' which are designed for those that have already caught the BC Splitboarding bug and now want to get out there, ride and explore!

In early April i'll once again be running the 'Splitboard Touring course' which was one of my favourite weeks last season. A chance to get out and explore a few of the regions a little further afield such as the Grand St Bernard, the Gran Paradiso and even deeper into the Mont Blanc Massif to explore some of the amazing riding hidden a 2 day adventure into the mountains!

Our big trip for next winter will be a Splitboard touring week in the Northern Fjords of Norway, as we will once again visit the wonderful Lyngen Fjord. Touring this time with Splitboards, the possibilities really will be unlimited as the terrain is perfectly suited to this form of access. I'm personally very excited about this trip and so hope you will be too! An amazing journey into and amazing wilderness with a serious modicum of comfort provided by the lyngen lodge which will be our base! (Only 7 places are available on this trip and (as with all courses) deposits will be needed straight away in order to secure a place).

We'll finish the winter off with a much requested 'Mont Blanc Summits course'. This will be a 6 day course of training, acclimatisation and then if conditions are favourable a mighty ascent of Mont Blanc by the long and serious 'Arete Royale' followed by the amazing descent, hopefully right from the summit if conditions on the North Face allow or from the Vallot bivouac hut if its too icy higher up. This is a massive week, a real challenge but also an amazing achievement for those with the will, the need and the determination. This will be our 5th Mont Blanc Summit course, but our first one using Splitboards for access! The ratio on this course will be 1 guide to 2 clients with a maximum of 6 for the course. The conditions on Mont Blanc at this time of year are the best they can be for this type of climb and ride ascent and descent and so this should prove to be a great way of finishing off the Winter season.

Finally, I have started looking into the possibility of a BC style Summer trip to Chile next August/September! There has been a lot of interest in a trip of this nature and so I'll keep you informed of developments as I progress. At the moment I'm looking at a 2 week 'Road trip' style journey from the North to the South to ride and explore this amazing land. I've made 2 previous trips to South America and ridden one season in Argentina and so am excited about the prospect of another visit and the possibilities that will be opened up by Splitboarding in the Chillian Backcountry!

Right, its a beautiful day outside and I need to go for a ride to stretch out my legs which are still suffering after guiding the Gran Paradiso the other day. I've a week riding with GPM10 in the Dolomites coming up next so I need to go and get some kind of form working, some of those Dolomite ascents are pretty long and pretty steep. When I get back, I'm straight into a busy Guiding season here in Chamonix with Mont Blanc and away in Zermatt with a Matterhorn ascent to do.

All is good in Chamonix and I hope you like the new course Calendar!

Neil.
