So the summer is coming to an end and the Autumn is drawing closer. the trees are slowly starting to change and I can see the new tints of yellow and orange amongst the dense green as I cycle though the woodland.
I'm busy riding for GPM10 at the moment, just finished a great Tour du Mont Blanc and now down in Biarritz for the start of a Trans Pyrenees route with maybe a quick dip in the surf tomorrow before leaving the following morning.
Its been a great summer out here in Chamonix, a slow start with mixed weather through May and June and a bit of July before a glorious August where the temps blasted into the 30's and stayed up there.
Of course as soon a September came around though, signalling the end of the summer holidays we had a quick taste of winter with snow down to 1600m, so covering the Aiguille rouge (Brevent/Flegere) and down past the mid station of the Midi!
Autumn is one of my favourite times of year out here, very beautiful with all the colours, nice stable weather, good temps and quiet roads for cycling, the Velodrome is open once again for the track race season and of course the Autumn means that soon we will be Snowboarding again!
Things are looking pretty good for the coming winter.
Most courses are either full or nearly full and the schedule looks great, I think I've managed to fit everything in and I have lots of Splitboard touring weeks with which to check out and explore some new possibilities and venues so all is good. We have just had our first enquiry for 2014!
I'm afraid I've not really thought that far ahead yet except for maybe looking at locations in Greenland and also a yurt based splitboard trip in Kyrgystan?
Ruth has just put me forward for doing the BC mountain safety talks at the Big Bang series so looks like I'll be over in the UK for those and I'd better get busy preparing something once this Pyrenees trip is finished!
Mr Jones has just held his movie premiere 'Further' over in Squaw valley, very well received. Can't wait to see it when he comes over to Cham this Autumn and hope to get out riding with him at some point pre season to check out the new boards…looks like lots going on in the design front there…very exciting!
Anyway, all is good and seems to be on schedule for the coming winter.
If you're looking to come out riding with me this winter check out what's left and drop Ruth a mail.
Remember there are often cancellations late on with people slipping around on ice etc back there in the UK so keep checking back to the site and I'll try to keep everything up to date.
Hope you all had a great summer and are looking forward to the coming winter…Time to start dragging your kit back out soon!
